101 OXIDACION DE ACIDOS GRASOS

CONTENTS: Oxidation of fatty acids I
GENERAL PURPOSE: Upon completion of the block of fatty acid metabolism, the student may discuss comprehensively the lipid metabolism in relation to its role as fuels. Discuss the regulation of lipid metabolism in certain physiological states.
OBJECTIVES:
1. Bring the subcellular localization via
2. Describe the reaction of fatty acid activation in the cytoplasm and the transport mechanism into the mitochondria.
3. Describe the reactions of β-oxidation, identifying substrates and products
4. Learn about the additional reactions required for the oxidation of unsaturated fatty acids, odd chain and branched chain.
5. Calculate the number of ATP molecules generated in the complete oxidation of palmitic acid and identify energy-dependent tissues of this pathway
