108 SINTESIS DE ACIDOS GRASOS

CONTENTS: synthesis of fatty acids I and II
GENERAL PURPOSE: THE STATEMENT IN SESSION 94
OBJECTIVES:
1. Indicate the subcellular localization of β-reduction and power feeders via: acetyl-CoA and NADPH.
2. Describe the de novo synthesis of fatty acid and in particular of malonyl-CoA carboxylase and multifucional enzyme, fatty acid synthase.
3. Regulation will outline short and long-term fatty acid synthesis.
4. Describe the reactions necessary for the elongation and unsaturation of fatty acids and subcellular localization of the systems involved in this process.
5. Bring the source of the carbons of palmitic acid and calculate the energy cost of synthesis of this acid.
6. You will learn the role of polyunsaturated fatty acids as precursors of prostaglandins, thromboxanes, lipoxins and leukotrienes, indicating the role of eicosanoids in the human body.
7. Expose the endocrine function of adipose tissue.
