113 SINTESIS Y DEGRADACION DE TRIGLICERIDOS

CONTENTS: synthesis and degradation of triacylglycerols
OBJECTIVES:
1. Know the chemical structure and tissue distribution of triacylglycerols according to their nature of fuel with physiological significance.
2. Describe the degradation pathway of triacylglycerol (lipolysis), identifying the enzymes, substrates, products, subcellular localization and function in the body.
3. Identify the sources of substrates for triacylglycerol synthesis: acyl-CoA and glycerol phosphate.
4. Explain and describe the mechanisms by which hormonal activation of lipolysis in adipose tissue elements is coordinated with the activation of Jan. l liver gluconeogenesis during fasting.
5. Describe the synthesis of triacylglycerol (lipogenesis), identifying their intermediaries, enzymes and subcellular localization.
6. Describe the mechanisms of lipid mobilization and transport in the body and mention some diseases related to these processes.
